September 12, 2011

So it is September 12 it is a Monday. It has been 5 days since I have written in my blog.

Well last week I went to Bangkok for like 3 hours (well the airport) lol. I was at the airport because my host brother, Thornn, left for Venezuela! At the airport was 5 Thai exchange students going to Venezuela and there family and there were about 8 exchange students. It is now sad because I will be like "oh hey let me text Thornn" and I am like "wait never mind I can't he is not in Thailand anymore".

This weekend was really funny because me and P'Bob (girl from Mexico & that’s her Thai name) were going over to pangs (from Canada & also her than name) house. P'Bob's dad picked me up around noon at the restaurant and they were asking what time we should be home and they will call us. So we went to Pangs house and then decided to go to the Mexican Restaurant. We had to walk a little bit down a road to the main road. Pangs dogs ended up following us all the way down the road and we had to cross the street and they followed us all the way across the street. We knew now they would not be able to get home so we had to wait for about 30 minutes to see if they would leave, they never did so we just jumped on a bus. It was so sad because the dog started chasing the buss after us :( But someone went and rescued the dogs and they are okay! yay! Well the Mexican restaurant is called Big Chili and it was "arroi mak" which means very delicious!! So we left at about 6:30 from there and at 8:00 me and P'Bob were wondering where are parents where and why they haven’t called. I called my host mom and she said "oh well I can't pick you up, so just spend the night'. I was like hahaha what the heck okay (funny because we were just talking a couple hours before of how they think about sleepovers) and then P'Bob called her host dad and he goes "oh i thought you were spending the night" ahahahha oh my goodness I guess they wanted to get us out of the house -_- even when they were asking earlier what time we should be home.

Well today at school it started at 9:30 but once again I was late. But we actually went to class at about 11 because it was Cake Decoration class and they had to bake the cakes for us and we just decorated them so technically we did not miss anything. I tried helping make the cake but it ended up them just making and decorating the cake for me. After cake class we were supposed to have cocktail class like 2 hours later but we found out that teacher was not there so we did not have to go. We then decided to go to the Mexican restaurant for lunch. We walked all the way there to find out that it was closed :( saddest thing ever..I wanted quesadillas soo bad! But we then took a "sorng tao" which means buss to the mall and we ate at a restaurant called Jeffers Steak! I had Chicken and mashed potatoes nomnomnom! And tonight I ended up baking cornbread in a microwave heckkk yess! I dont have an oven in my house :( Tomorrow I start school at 12:30 and it is Ballroom dancing.

Khop Kun Kah :D I am getting a little better at writing blogs...I hope.

Above will be pictures posted of the past 5 days! (:

September 7; Whole month in one blog.

So I have been in Thailand for a month now and this is only my second post ooppss.

I am just going to tell a little about everything here and what I have done and hopefully I will then start posting a blog every week and not only once a month! haha

So first of all My Family.  My famly is really confusing.  My first host mom is the sister of my second host family but I live at my second host famlilies house.  I have a host brother and sister.  My brother is 16 and he leaves for Venezuala tomorrow wahh :( My sister is 11 (i think..) and I see her every now and then.  She lives with my first host mom I think because her house is closer to the school.  Haha like I said it is confusing.  Everyone in my family can speak English just a little bit, I'm glad it is a little and not none haha.  My dad owns a restaraunt (the one i am sitting at right now writing this blog).  I see the dad usually like once a week becuase he travles alot with his other job.  I just know that my mom works in another province, but not really sure what she does, well technically she isn't my first host mom but she is my first host dads wife lol.

My School is sooo much fun. There are 5 exchange student girls that go to my school.  I go to a vocational college so technically I am not taking any "real" classes there all elective type classes which is great.  My schedule is Monday: Flower, Cake Decoration, and Cocktail Class.  Tuesday: Ballroom Dancing & Muay Thai.  Wednesday: International Cooking & Thai Lanugage.  Thursday: International Cooking & Thai Massage. Friday: Packaging Design, Local Food & Muay Thai.  I have those classes the rest of September and then in October we have a break and then we start back up in November but I will have a different schedule.  There are ALOT of ladyboy in my school, which are gay guys.  They are actually really pretty and sometimes it is really hard to tell if it is a guy or girl haha Also inbetween classes we have 2-3 hours to do nothing so we either make some friends or go and eat somewhere!  My ride to school is a Sorng Tao which is a pick up truck with 2 benches in the back and a covering and window.  It cost me 8 baht everytime i ride it.  They can seriously fit like 20 people on those things..it sucks when it is that crowded.

Just random things i have noticed :D

There are motorcycles everywhere here.  It seems lik 70% of the people drive one or atleast own one. And I have seen 4 people on one :O I dont understand how they fit 4 because me and my friend only could fit 3 and we were soo squished haha.  I have also seen a person driving one holding a tree at the same time.

Drivers here are crazy.  I don't think there are any speed limits and they don't really pay attention to the lines on the road at all....if there even is lines.  You will look out the window and there is a motorcycle or car like 2 inches from you, its kind of really scary sometimes.

There are dogs EVERYWHERE.  It seems like everywhere I look I see a stray dog.  Knowing me and how much I love dogs I want to pet everyone I see.  My host family always yells at me and says to not pet them because there dirty hahah oh well.  Most of the dogs look like they have been through hell and back like my host moms dogs arm is cut in half and you can just like see the bone :0 it got hit by a car.

I always see old white men with young thai women and it is kind of creepy haha.

I came here thinking I would see elephants alot, I saw my first elephant last weekend so about a month after I got here -_- lol

I love shopping here, I seriously have spent so much money so far..I need to stop but everything is so cheap and I can't help myself.

Fooodddd. "hew mai" I get asked this question allll the time! They are asking if I am hungry.  It will be like 10 minutes after I eat like a feast and feel like i am going to explode and they ask that im like omggg noo. haha.  The food is good but for me it is taking a lot of getting used to.  I never ate spicy food back home so now I am kinda being forced to liking it >.<  I got a gym membership..If you come here that might be a good idea or atleast find out where the park is haha.  Also when you eat here you have to use a fork in your left hand and a spoon in your right.  You push the food onto the spoon with the fork and eat off the spoon. EVEN with noooodles they put them all on the spoon and do it.  I have been able to eat every food like that so far but just not the noodles.  I am getting better at chopsticks :D

Well today I got my first massage :D It was amazingggg and a Thai massage. For one hour it only cost 120 baht so 4 US dollars.  I am now going to go back at least once a week!

EVERYONE in Thailand has a blackberry well like 99% of them do.

everything here is soo cute. I will be walking in the mall and they have all this hello kitty stuff and just adorable little things and i always just want to buy it all.

Well that is enough I think haha..I will try to post more but I never like writing these long blogs blahhhh. And probably noone even reads this ahha ohh well.  If you did thanks (:

soooo closeee..

Wow I only have 41 days left till I leave for Thailand, it still does not seem real to me.  It seems like just yesterday i just found out where i was going and that i have 6 months till i leave..now its only like 1.5 months! its crazy! After the orientation this weekend it kind of hit me a little more that i will be leaving and its not all just like a dream.  I really do need to start trying to learn my language more and study up on the culture I don't want to go there completly clueless o_O  I still have alot of things to do before I leave like buying luggage, buying gifts for my family, the language, and making a powerpoint and speech..yayyy!
For gifts I am still pretty confused I have an idea of what to get them but I dont know when to give what to my families..do i give it to them on there birthday/christmas or just whenever?  I am thinking about getting florida pictuere books, cookbooks, gator stuff, and just florida things.
Oh goshhh the speech that I am dreaddingg to do.  I am not really good at public speaking and to just add to that I have to say it in Thai in front of a bunch of people i don't know -__-  I should start writing that and working on it.  Along with the speech i have to make a powerpoint to show pictures, I am going to put pictures of friends, family, my school, house, and anctivities I like to do.
Well I am done writing for now I feel like i put so muchh ahaha oh well (:  Sawasdee ka!
